Jon Ski Trip!

So on Saturday I took trip with a few co-workers to Crystal Mountain to go skiing. I have never skied before so I knew I would be in for quite a day. Went to the rental shop to get my boots/skis/poles and get ready to go. I was with my friend Betsy for most of the day. We started on the "Discovery Hill" so that I could get the hang of everything a bit. After falling a few times and making it down alright, we moved up to the next challenge. This next run was met with more falls, some deep powder extraction and more improving by me. Eventually moved up to some higher runs and rode the lifts up. Riding the lifts just provided AMAZING views of the area in all its natural splendor. The sun came out a bit in the morning and helped warm everything up a bit.

After skiing for a while, we decided to take a lunch break up near the top at the lodge. I definitely needed a little time off my skis to give my legs a rest. Afterward, we headed back out to keep going for a few more hours and tried some more challenging runs. I usually would fall 1-2 times per run, but always got up afterward. By the end the day, I was so happy I went and gave it a try. I will have to go back again. See below for some photos and I will email some more pictures that actually feature me on skis tomorrow!!

Early morning drive to the mountain

Little more light coming in, the trees were like a giant hallway on each side of the road

Taking a break and taking it all in

Trees looked fake with all the snow

Random guy in a picture I took giving his friend behind me the finger

Lift lines....

Lunch in the lodge...yes that is snow piled up that high against the windows

Riding home tired after a long day

The road on the way home
